The tower was already here
There is an island. We have looked for it on maps — several maps, good ones — and it is not on any of them. The island does not seem bothered by this.
On the island there is a radio tower. It is tall, it works, and it hums a little at night. Nobody built it. We have asked around. The palm trees were here first and even they do not remember it arriving. The official position of this log is: the tower was already here.
Today a goose walked out of the lagoon, crossed the beach, and went straight into the control room like it had an appointment. It looked at the mixing desk for a long time. Then it turned exactly one knob.
The speakers came on.
I want to be clear that nobody taught the goose anything. I have been keeping notes and there was no training period. Between this morning and this afternoon, the goose learned the entire broadcast console, rejected two chairs, and chose a frequency.
We are calling the station Coconut FM, because the goose kept pointing its beak at a coconut and we are not in a position to argue.
The broadcast begins now. It does not stop. That part was made very clear to me.
